NYC Humpback Whale Catalog Project

NYC Humpback Whale Catalog, Citizen Science & Public Awareness Project, 2018

This one-year grant supported the expansion of a fluke ID database to help identify individual whales migrating between the coast of New York and the calving grounds of the Silver Banks off of the Dominican Republic. The overall goal of the project was to educate area residents about responsible boating around a growing whale population and includes a citizen science component asking the public to share their whale photos for inclusion in the fluke ID database. $5000 awarded to Gotham Whale
